Where it all began… My first ever modern calligraphy comission (2015)
It all began in 2015 - when I started to learn modern calligraphy for a bit of “me time” and quiet escape, as a new Mum. I missed being creative and this introvert missed being quiet! Lettering out quotes allowed me to quieten my busy mind, by really focusing on the quote and letter formations.
Grace & Salt Ink was established, by myself - Rebecca, shortly after, with my very first modern calligraphy calligraphy. Someone saw me sharing my art on instagram and reached out for a comission, which was the confidence boost I needed to open a small Etsy shop selling personalised journals. Things grew and expanded from there, in ways I never saw coming from the humble beginnings of my kitchen table. My own full website launched in less than a year, with products shipping all around the world. Things have moved on and evolved again since then, relocating to Northumberland and expanding our family. In 2024 - nearly ten years after starting Grace & Salt Ink, I am refocusing the vision. Modern calligraphy is where Grace & Salt Ink started and I am returning Grace & Salt Ink to its roots!
